We, Dominican Sisters of Catherine of Siena, trace the origin of our religious family, to a humble French woman, MOTHER GERINE FABRE a member of the fraternity of Lay Dominican movement. She was born on the 22nd April, 1811 in South of France. She spent her life caring for the helpless, the abandoned, particularly the sick and the poor.
She established a Dominican religious community devoted to the assistance of the sick, opened many schools for the education of the poor, and cared for the spiritual needs of people. She enjoined us her daughters to take St. Catherine of Siena as our spiritual mother and strive to imitate her virtues.
Today, we are spread in different parts of the world. We continue to carry out the mission of preaching Christ through healthcare, education, and pastoral activities in the manner of the apostles. We have communities in Lagos, Abatete, Ibadan, Aja and Shendam.
